Female Malaysian students are being called upon to display their true love for their boyfriends by not Valentine’s Day.
The ‘no-panties’ drive has generated a great deal of interest among students and the campaign is being promoted by word-of-mouth. Ummi and Melissa from Shah Alam, both in their 20s say they know about the ‘promotion.’ “I feel it is personal,” the Star Online quoted Ummi, as saying.
She added: “Valentine’s Day is a good time to express one’s love. And, what we use or don’t use is our right, our freedom. But we will do what is right. It’s a new world now.” Melissa says a number of girls were already game for the plan. She added, “We will know how many by Valentine’s evening.” However, the state Islamic Affairs Department (Jais) director Datuk Mohammed Khusrin Munawi said, “We will not allow Muslim students to be taken in by such celebrations that deviate from the teachings of Islam.”
